Building a Global Multidisciplinary Digital Governance and Policy Modelling Research and Practice Community
UNU-IIST is collaborating with University of Koblenz-Landau, Technical University Delft, Center for Technology in Government, University at Albany, and other partners on eGovPoliNet (www.policy-community.eu) initiative supported by the European Commission. The initiative aims to establish an International Policy Community which deals with ICT solutions for Governance and Policy Modeling by bridging different communities of expertise around the globe.
UNU-IIST contributes to the eGovPoliNet initiative particularly through its global policy and research network, with focus on developing countries, and through access to the United Nations system. UNU-IIST plans to connect to the eGovPoliNet network the global research and practice community associated with the ICEGOV (International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance) series as well as the academic and government partners taking part in the UNU-IIST projects.
eGovPoliNet focuses on generating interaction amongst experts from various scientific disciplines and practitioner groups in order to provide evidence and insight into the development of new methods of Governance and Policy Modelling for those involved in the policy making process. Eighteen partners from 16 countries both within and outside of the EU are working together to share ideas, experiences and practices in the field. eGovPoliNet offers people from policy making, academia, industry and governments a platform to share and exchange knowledge and ideas, to network and to build a constituency in ICT for governance and policy modelling.
We welcome researchers and practitioners to join eGovPoliNet community for exchanging ideas and benefiting from being an active member of the network. Cases of policy analysis, policy development and policy evaluation will be collected and investigated in the community to provide added value in terms of insights, knowledge access as well as lessons and good practice understanding. For this purpose, the Policy Community provides a free virtual space to share expertise and to meet. The Policy Community will have access to groups of experts in the field and will meet in international events to share and discuss theories, methods and practical solutions.
